Rockwell RK7240 Table Saw Review
The Rockwell 10-Inch Portable bench top table saw can be used at home, in the workshop, or on-the-job. One of the features of this table saw is that it can fit into places that have space. This table saw has a powerful 13 Amp which will write you with plenty of cutting power. Another feature that this table saw has is that it offers you a large working area with its aluminum 416 square inch area.
The stand for this Rockwell table saw is an open leg type. This table saw is easy to transport because it is only 33 pounds in weight. Rockwell has always prided itself in its many safety features. This saw offers you a large style switch to turn it on or off. This larger than normal on and off switch will allow the operator complete control and is another one of Rockwell?s innovative safety features.
The tabletop is a cast aluminum table top that has been reinforced for greater precision and control. When you switch from smaller stock pieces to larger stock pieces you can utilize Quick Lock release for the rip fence. The unit comes complete with a high quality tungsten carbide tipped blade. This type of blade will allow you to achieve a greater cutting performance.
There is an integrated port for dust collection which makes it easy to attach a shop vac. The unit comes complete with a 10 inch carbide tipped blade, and open leg stand, to wrenches for the blade, a quick release rip fence, and the push stick for the miter gauge. The motor is protected from heat overload and there is an adjustable cutting depth feature with a 0 to 45 Degree blade bevel.
Many builders and homeowners are familiar with the Rockwell name. Rockwell produces two types of products, one is higher-end for builders and quality woodworking shops and the other one is for your average Joe who wants to build things around the home.
One of the things that I really liked about this particular model of table saw was that it had an aluminum table top. That table top is the best feature that this saw has because I use this saw outdoors around my little hobby farm and inevitably I forget about it and leave it outside overnight. I have been using this saw for a long time and the tabletop simply will not rust.
This particular Rockwell table saw is priced very reasonably. You can get it at any home building supply outlet for approximately $180. Recently I saw that online for an amazing price of $150. A friend of mine told me that he purchases saw from a store that was running a weekend sale for the amazing price of $111.
It is important when purchasing a saw from a retail outlet to open the box and check that all of the parts and pieces are present. My friend who bought his saw four $111 was missing the rip fence handle. However, he did not notice it until after he had returned home. The retail outlet told him that all sales are final on clearance items and that he would not be able to return it.
One of the important things that you will want to know about this table saw is that you will be required to continually set up the rip fence with a tape measure after you have cut various sizes of wood. There is a protector for the butt you may want to remove it as it seems to be more dangerous to use when it?s on.
The 13 amp motor is powerful enough to cut many types of wood but the motor does have a strange sound as if it wasn?t being properly lubricated. Only time will tell if the motor requires servicing due to this peculiar sound. This table saw would be rated with a three out of five star rating. It is a good saw for what you pay but if you are using a table saw for work or for a professional woodworking shop I would recommend choosing a higher quality Rockwell table saw.
