Large Ripping Capacity
The GTS1031 has a large ripping capacity of 18 inches, ideal for cutting planks out of plywood, or other large sheet material. With its phenomenally powerful motor revving at speeds up to 5000 RPM (no load speed), it easily cuts through a variety of materials including stair treads, sheet goods, shelving, siding, flooring, hardwoods, pressure-treated lumber, and rub cited lumber.
Its sturdy, durable base is fabricated out of all steel, and provides accurate and precise cuts. Even though it is lightweight, the unit provides optimal results in a variety of conditions, whether in the workshop, or outdoors.
The Bosch GTS1031 on-site, 10-inch blade table saw is engineered to produce maximum accuracy through every type of cut. The fence guides of the unit move into fingers touch, and easily locks the place, using a quick-snap lever.
The durable lightweight base frame is fabricated out of all steel, but is still lightweight (at 52 pounds) and can be carried in a variety of hand positions including single-handed. In addition, it easily stores on its side for quick storage, or easy transport in the back of the truck or inside the cab. Blade adjustments range from -2 to 47 degrees, for a variety of bevel applications. It maintains a maximum depth of cut of 3-1/8 inches when set at 90 degrees.
The GTS1031 is manufactured with a 2 ” inch dust collecting port that easily connects to the garage shop VAC or to a dust collection system. The tubular, compact bar frame allows for easy handholds and all components clip securely for transport and storage on the underside of the unit.
Our Find a Conclusion
As we wrapped up our Bosch GTS1031 table saw review, we recognized it had many of the same features as the DeWalt DW 745 unit, and produced cuts just as accurate. Even though the Bosch is the heavier of both units, it tends to be a better built portable, compact saw, ideally suited for transporting from the workshop to the job site.
Initial setup of the unit is simple right out of the box. In fact, the manufacturer delivers the unit perfectly set up. Set at zero degrees, the 10-inch blade remains parallel and perfectly square to the unit’s miter gauge. In addition, the fence was delivered parallel to the miter gauge in the blade to produce optimal cuts.
The large powerful 5000 RPM motor and its ability to cut at a depth of 3-1/8 inch vertical cut makes it a desired unit for the professional carpenter, amateur artisan, or do-it-yourself weekend warrior interested in maximum ripping capacity and strength when cutting through hardwoods, plywood, and treated lumber.
We highly recommend the GTS1031 unit by Bosch. With its optional throat plate (TS 1013) and dado blade stack, this unit has the ability to outperform many of its competitive units in the marketplace in both safety and accuracy.
